This intense, high-energy workout lets you sculpt your body with the discipline and precision of a dancer. Using a fixed barre for stability and a small ball for resistance, we target all major muscle groups, burning fat with high repetitions of small, controlled movements.
We will target specific muscles, working them until they fatigue and then we stretch them, helping to elongate, lengthen and tone your muscles. Further define your muscles with hand-held weights, then elongate them with a series of stretches. As a bonus, the exercises are non-impact and joint-friendly. You'll soon see the difference in your strength, endurance, posture, balance, and flexibility.

It is Sunstone's ballet-inspired class which utilizes hand weights, a resistance poz-a-ball and a stability bar to elongate, lengthen and tone muscle.
While it was designed with ballet principles in mind, Sunstone's series is a different experience from other Barre classes. You can expect a consistently sequenced class which feature exercises done both on the bar and on the mat, specifically selected to fatigue, strengthen and stretch the upper body, legs, hips and abdominals. And our class is done in a 90 degree-heated environment with 60% humidity for added tone and flexibility!
Sunstone has been developing high caliber class offerings for nearly 15 years. To create the Barre series, we hired Carol Webber, a 10-year yoga, barre and fitness instructor, to advise on the sequence development. To make Barre distinct from our other offerings but still in alignment with the experience for which Sunstone is known, we used her input and our Sunstone Methodology principles to flesh out and finish the series.
Barre promises to engage all students from women to men, developing newcomers while strengthening and challenging barre-enthusiasts! Here at Sunstone, we believe varied patterns of movement help contribute to overall fitness. Barre uses unique exercises not found in Pilates or yoga to strengthen and tone the body. This class's upbeat tempo and music stands out from other Sunstone offerings!
All membership levels grant access to our Barre class (provided the class is held at a studio and time that is covered by your membership.) Barre is a 60 minute, fast-paced, repetition-based class set to high energy music. We will spend time both on a mat as well as at the bar. We provide you with a mat, hand weights, a resistance ball and the bar—all you have to do is show up!
